Níveis de estresse, ansiedade, depressão e fatores associados durante a pandemia de COVID-19 em praticantes de Yoga

Resumen

La epidemia del nuevo coronavirus y la crisis de salud pública ha generado estrés en toda la población. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo examinar la práctica del yoga y su relación con los niveles de ansiedad, depresión y estrés durante la epidemia de COVID-19. El estudio se basó en la aplicación de un cuestionario anónimo en línea (entre el 19 y el 26 de mayo de 2020), con preguntas sociodemográficas, sobre la práctica del Yoga y la Escala de depresión y ansiedad-21. Doscientos trece participantes (con una experiencia promedio de 55.7 ± 75.5 meses en la práctica de Yoga) completaron el cuestionario. En general, se observaron 12,2%, 12,2% y 8,0% de los síntomas graves de estrés, ansiedad y depresión, respectivamente. En el análisis de regresión logística, los participantes mayores tenían menos probabilidades de tener síntomas graves de estrés (OR=0,30) y depresión (OR=0,34), mientras que fumar aumentaba las posibilidades (OR=7,71) de síntomas ansiedad severa. Una mayor experiencia en la práctica del yoga reduce significativamente las posibilidades de experimentar síntomas graves de estrés (OR=0,34) y ansiedad (OR=0,37), independientemente de la edad, el tabaquismo y otras actividades físicas durante la epidemia de COVID -19. Además, hay una reducción en las posibilidades de presentar síntomas severos de estrés en los profesionales que realizan un mayor número de sesiones semanales (OR=0.09) y una reducción en los síntomas depresivos para aquellos que lograron mantener la frecuencia de la práctica (OR=0.23 ) Nuestros datos de observación sugieren que los profesionales más experimentados que tienen más sesiones semanales informan menos impacto psicológico durante la epidemia de COVID-19.
