Types of articles

The Brazilian Journal of Physical Activity & Health publishes articles in the following formats:

Original article – Intended for the dissemination of observational studies, intervention studies, and systematic reviews with and without meta-analysis produced from the application of rigorous scientific methods, capable of replication and/or generalization, covering both quantitative and qualitative approaches to investigation. The body of the text is structured into an introduction, methodological procedures, results, and discussion. For qualitative studies, the utilization of another structuring of the body of the text that best suits the type of research is allowed. The Brazilian Journal of Physical Activity & Health encourages the submission of replication studies, especially studies published in this journal.

It is recommended that manuscripts presenting clinical trial results present a registration of the clinical trial (e.g. ClinicalTrials.gov or Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials - ReBEC). Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and scoping reviews must comply with international guidelines for systematic reviews. It is recommended that they be registered in the electronic database International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) or another database such as the Open Science Framework (https://osf.io/). During submission, authors must inform whether there is pre-registration of the study / pre-registration of the analysis plan and where to access it.

We recommend that before submitting, authors check that their article follows the standards appropriate to the research subject/type of study to disclose key aspects of the research project and data analysis. It is recommended that the appropriate checklist or form (e.g. STROBE, CONSORT, PRISMA) used be sent along with the article upon submission.

It is recommended that all data, codes, and materials underlying the article and used in the design and conduct of the research are adequately cited in the text and listed in the references section, preferably with a persistent identifier such as the DOI.
